From January to August 2014, pulp production has totaled 10.7 million tons, a 7.7% increase year over year, where 9.9 million tons were produced. For the wood panels segment, the accrued amount produced totaled 5.2 million m³, a 1.4% growth year over year, where 5.0 million m³ were produced. Paper production was 6.9 million tons during the first eight months for this year – a 0.2% variation year over year.

Export Revenues - From January through August 2014, revenues from pulp, paper, and wood panels exports totaled US$ 4.9 billion, a 1.7% increase year over year, where the total was US$ 4.8 billion. The industry’s balance of trade is US$ 3.7 billion, which corresponds to a 4.2% growth year over year. Pulp sales to China, the second largest market for the Brazilian product, have already surpassed the mark of one billion US dollars, a 2.1% increase year over year.

Exports – In the eight months of 2014, pulp exports totaled 6.9 million tons, a 12.3% growth year over year. Wood Panels exports increased by 26%, totaling 354 thousand m³ compared to the 281 thousand mil m³ exported in the corresponding period in 2013. Paper exports has also increased, totaling 1.26 million tons – a 2.7% variation year over year.

The industry has also recorded a 32.2% drop in wood panels imports, which totaled 612 thousand m3 compared to 902 thousand m3 year over year. Paper imports have also dropped 5.5%: 847 thousand tons compared to 896 thousand tons imported from January to August 2013.

Domestic Sales – YTD paper sales in the domestic market show a 0.3% variation year over year, totaling 3.7 million tons. On the other hand, wood panels domestic sales totaled 4.7 million m³, 1.0% lower year over year. Pulp sales in the domestic market increased 2.3% year over year, totaling 1.2 million tons.
