The planted trees industry exports revenues increases in January

In the first month of 2016, exports revenues from pulp, wood panels and paper totaled US$ 646 million, which represents a 6.1% increase year-over-year, when the total was US$ 588 million. The industry’s balance of trade in January was US$ 555 million, 23% higher compared to the same period in 2015.

Volume of exports – In January 2016, pulp exports totaled 959,000 tons, 4.4% higher year-over-year, when 919,000 tons were exported. For the wood panels segment, the amount exported in the first month of 2016 totaled 54,000 m³, a 50.0% growth year-over-year, when exports totaled 36,000 m³. Paper exports totaled 156,000 tons in the first month this year, 1.3% higher year-over-year when 154,000 tons were exported.

Production - In the first month of 2016, Brazilian pulp production reached 1.6 million tons, a high of 9.2% year-over-year, when 1.5 million tons were produced. Paper production totaled 849,000 tons in January/2016, 2.5% lower year-over-year.

Domestic Sales – Paper sales in the domestic market in January 2016 achieved 440,000 tons, 2.6% higher year-over-year. In the wood panels segment, sales in the domestic market achieved 462,000 m3, 19% lower year-over-year.
