Elizabeth de Carvalhaes is the new head of ICFPA

The president of the Brazilian Tree Industry (Ibá), Elizabeth de Carvalhaes, was appointed president of the International Council of Forest and Paper Associations (ICFPA) at that organization's Annual Meeting held in Washington, D.C. on May 5. 

With members from over 30 countries, the ICFPA is the top global association representing the forest products industry. The Annual Meeting was attended by representatives from 18 ICFPA member associations, who discussed future activities, cooperation and sustainability-related issues. 

This is the first time that an ICFPA member from the Southern Hemisphere chairs the organization. De Carvalhaes will serve in this capacity for the next two years. During this period, ICFPA's headquarters will move to Brazil.
