The planted tree sector arrives in Belém for the COP30

Ibá and its associates will have a solid institutional presence at the COP30 in Belém, reflecting the commitment of the sector that plants trees for industrial and restoration purposes to advancing the global climate agenda and Brazil’s leading role in nature-based solutions. The organization and its members will take part in a wide-ranging program of panel discussions, events and technical debates, bringing with them the sector’s vision on topics like decarbonization, restoration, the bioeconomy, forest-based products, circularity and the role of forests in tackling climate change.
Ibá will be acting directly (with lectures and moderating its own panels) as well as participating in events as part of strategic partnerships with national and international organizations such as the Forest Coalition, Arapyaú, CNI, CNA, EMBRAPA, ISO, PEFC, Warner Bros. Discovery and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. Ibá member companies will also be present on their own behalf, reinforcing convergent messages about sustainability, innovation and the sector’s concrete contributions to the transition to a low-carbon economy. Approximately 50 representatives from the organization and its member companies are expected to take part.
The program covers official events in the Blue Zone and even in the area of the COP Presidency, with a focus on carbon removal by forests and the relevant role forests play in the climate agenda, as well as debates in the Green Zone on circularity and adding value for renewable products with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. Ibá will also be featured in activities like the launch of its documentary film #Novas Raízes – Escolhas do Futuro [New Roots – Choices for the Future]#, produced in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery and Casa Redonda.
With an intense and well-connected agenda, Ibá’s participation in the COP30 consolidates the Brazilian forest sector as an essential part of the climate solution, spotlighting the business model involving trees planted for industrial purposes as well as for restoring native forests.
The delegation from Ibá and its member companies totals 55 people and 13 companies, and will be present for at least 45 events.
The dates and venues are still being defined and are subject to change; new opportunities for discussion may also be added.
Activities will be reported to member companies, and the list of events will be updated in Ibá’s WhatsApp groups. We will also have a WhatsApp group for those who are present in Belém at the event; please send an e-mail to [email protected] to be added.
